FAQ: SENIOR PORTRAITS

How do I book my session?

The best way to book your senior portrait session is to fill out the "Senior Session Request Form" on the home page of this website.  We will get back to you within two business days via email to help you set up your session and answer any questions you may have.  Below is a great tool of frequently asked questions we suggest you read before your session.

Do I have to use my school's designated photographer, or do I have a choice?

The reason I address this early on is that it is the most commonly asked question.  And the answer is if you are in a public school system you can choose whatever photographer you like.  Below is the law mandated by the State of Massachusetts.  If you go to a private school, many times students will use the designated photographer for their yearbook and hire another photographer of their choice for their personal portraits.

"The Department of the Attorney General has declared that public schools prohibiting students from using a nonofficial photographer to produce their senior portraits is in violation of the Massachusetts Antitrust Act, General Law Chapter 93, Section 4."

How many outfits should I bring?

You can bring up to (3) three outfit changes.  Parking for local sessions are right near the spot we shoot so you may also choose to change in your car.  (Girls - Wearing a camisole can make out changes quicker and more convenient.)

What should I wear?

Because you are allowed up to three outfit changes, take advantage of this and change up the colors!  It really does make a difference and gives you a greater variety of final images in your gallery.     Please AVOID NEON colors, as they do not photograph well at all and affect skin tones.

Can I bring friends for a group portrait?

Add as many of your friends as you like for a group photo.

How long is the session?

Local sessions take about 30 minutes, and beach sessions take one hour to an hour and a half.  We like to let people know that we book beach sessions with other clients due to the short season and will photograph up to three seniors at a time.

Where do you take the pictures?

We take the majority of the pictures at the Veteran's Park in Bedford, MA right across the street from the Marshalls Shopping Plaza.  The park is watered and maintained year round and creates a beautiful, manicured look in your portraits.  We also do sessions at the Job Lane Farm Museum in Bedford, MA where there is a barn and beautiful gardens.  Beach sessions are done in Seabrook, NH and we have arranged for parking.  We only schedule a limited amount of beach sessions, so please contact us as early as possible to schedule your summer beach session.

When is the best time of day to schedule my session?

Light is best later in the day and closer to sunset, which is why we do all our sessions no earlier than 3:00 in the afternoon.

What happens if it rains or is windy?

We simply reschedule your session.  It happens all the time, because let's face it, we live in New England!

OMG, what if I wake up and have a pimple?  Then what?????

Don't worry about it!  We have Photoshop!  However, if you feel you need to reschedule for any reason, please call us as early as possible so that we can reschedule your session date.

How will I know when my images are ready and where do I find them?

Your digital images will be made available to you up to two weeks from your session date via a site called "Smug Mug". You can download your images directly from the site and order prints as well .

Who delivers my yearbook image to the school?

We ask that you pick your favorite image and simply forward it to your yearbook staff at your school.  Your school should send you the link and password at the beginning of the school year.

Can I use my images on social media sites?

Absolutely!  When you get your images you will notice that the duplicates have my water mark in the lower left hand corner.  We would appreciate it if you used those so in that we can receive photo credit!
